Prosecutors have charged Ralph L. Whitehead, 44, of Warrenton, for allegedly stealing a motor home from a local RV service provider in December.
The theft was reported at Jay’s RV on Armory Road Dec. 6, according to a Warrenton police report. The owner of the business told police that a customer’s 1997 Ford Motor Home, valued at $25,000, had been stolen a little before 6:30 a.m.
Two days later, Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies found the vehicle parked near Ellsberry with Whitehead inside, according to the police report. After being detained, Whitehead allegedly admitted that he and another person had gone to Jay’s RV to steal a truck. Police said that the suspects found keys to the motor home while plundering other vehicles.
Whitehead was already facing a felony charge for allegedly stealing a trailer loaded with small vehicles about a week before the RV theft. He and a second suspect, Andrew N. Leimkuehler, 19, 0f Warrenton, were arrested for that crime in December.
