On “Face the Nation” Sunday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich offered advice to President-elect Donald Trump. It was to focus on three to five things when president. When one issue is solved, add another. That’s good advice from experience. Gingrich said President Ronald Reagan was successful in doing that. The reason is a president has so many distractions that his focus can be easily diverted. That also is good advice for any elected government official. Don’t try to do too much that success does not come to any of the main issues that an official faces, or wants to change. In fact, remaining focused on several things, not a multitude of items, holds true in business if a person wants to effect change. Take agenda items one by one. When a conclusion comes, replace it with another agenda item.Trump must set priorities if he hopes to effect changes he promised.A president’s time is taken by many ceremonial obligations that go with the office. A president can’t escape them. Another bit of advice is for the president to stop using Twitter to answer critics. Trump is bound to be criticized often, especially in the early days of his administration. He should junk his tweeting and concentrate on his agenda. Trump’s personality is such that he believes he must fight back at every little criticism of what he says and what he does.Forget it, move on!
