An estimated 1.2 million visitors are expected to visit Missouri for the Aug. 21 solar eclipse.The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is warning drivers to be prepared for extra congestion as Missouri residents and visitors from around the globe travel to the best viewing spots for the eclipse.MoDOT offers these driving tips:• No parking on the shoulder of highways.• Exit the highway to view or photograph the eclipse.• Don’t rely on auto headlights, turn headlights on.• Don’t wear “eclipse glasses” while driving.• Avoid travel during the eclipse if you can.• Keep a full tank of gas and have drinking water available.• Be prepared for potential cellphone outages.• Use MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for traffic updates.More information about the eclipse is available at https://www.mo.gov/eclipse/.Solar Eclipse
