A Wright City man has been arrested for a February burglary in Warrenton in which a victim was held at gunpoint, robbed and then stabbed.Juan C. Salazar, 21, was taken into custody March 3 for the crimes committed Feb. 22. He is charged with first-degree robbery, a Class A felony, as well as first-degree burglary and first-degree assault, both Class B felonies. He is being held at the Warren County Jail on a $300,000, cash-only bond.If convicted, Salazar could face decades in prison. Two other suspects are also in custody, said Warrenton Police Chief Larry Ellard. The robbery occurred around 5 a.m. at a house on the 500 block of Oak Street in Warrenton, according to police. The victim was awoken by a group of people in ski masks, who tied the victim’s hands and feet with zip ties, police said. One of the assailants allegedly put a gun to the back of the victim’s head and forced the person to give up the combination to a safe in the residence, which contained $2,000 that was stolen. The suspects allegedly then stabbed the victim in the leg and left.Ellard said he could not discuss specific details of the case, but that the attack was not random and the suspects involved do not represent a danger to the general public.“Our officers did excellent work investigating this case,” Ellard said.
