A St. Charles man crashed his GMC Sierra 1500 into a traffic control box at the exit ramp of Interstate 70 and Highway 47 around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Brian Schaefer, 43, was exiting the interstate traveling east when, according to the crash report, he failed to observe the traffic ahead and crashed into a traffic control box at the intersection. The vehicle was then disabled on the concrete island.
Schaefer's vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Prime Towing. He was transported by the Warren County Ambulance District to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis with moderate injuries.
