Spring is in bloom at Thierbach Orchards and Berry Farm

After a few years of killing frosts, Otto Thierbach said 2025 is looking good for its peach, cherry and apple trees. The popular donut, or flat peach, is in full bloom at the orchard location. Thierbach said blueberries, cherries, blackberries and strawberries should be ready by the end of May into June. Check their website at thierbachorchards.com for their "What's Ripe" page. Thierbachs Orchards will once again offer fresh flower bouquet picking. Peaches will be ready in July through August. Apples are ripe in September and October. The orchard is located at 15885 Orchard Lane in Marthasville. The market and apple orchard is located north of Marthasville at 18427 Highway 47.

A new setup for growing strawberries will be featured this year at Thierbach's Orchard and Berry Farm near Marthasville. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Thierbach uses a coconut core with perlite. Then nutrients are added through the watering system. Each stack of strawberries can be rotated and they are protected from the cold by a greenhouse which can be covered when the summer sun brings hotter temperatures. Strawberries should be ripe in early June.

Two new miniature horses, Dudley and Clover, have been added at Thierbach's Orchard. Chickens and Speck the goat also call the orchard home. The horses will move to the market during apple season.
