Rep. Bryan Spencer, R-63, recently was awarded the "Freshman Legislator of the Year Award for Education." The award, which was presented by House Speaker Tim Jones, R-110, in recognition of Spencer's work on educational reform during his first session in the Missouri House of representatives. “I firmly believe actions speak louder than words and as an elected official, those actions are crucial to the well-being of our constituents," Jones remarked. "I commend Rep. Bryan Spencer on his actions regarding educational reform.” Through his role as a member on the House Committees on Elementary and Secondary Education and Education Appropriation, Spencer helped promote legislation that would ensure that the taxpayers have value and accountability in public education. Prior to becoming state representative for the 63rd District which encompasses portions of eastern Warren County, including Wright City, Innsbrook and Foristell, Spencer worked for 22 years as an educator for the Francis Howell School District. “It is nice to know that all of my years in education have been able contribute to the legislation process here in Jefferson City to make a positive difference in education,” Spencer stated. “I appreciate all of people that I have worked with in the school setting, volunteered and participated with in all of the community projects and organizations, and all the people that have shared their beliefs and opinions on all the different issues here at the Capitol. I’ve done my best to represent their voice.” Additional details will appear in the Thursday, March 23, edition of The Record. Rep. Bryan Spencer
