Spencer named vice chair of education committee

State Rep. Bryan Spencer (R-Wentzville) last week announced his committee assignments for the 98th Missouri General Assembly.Most notably, Spencer has been selected as vice chairman of the Missouri House Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education.“It is a real honor to be named to such an important position,” said Spencer. “My career is in education, and I have always put our education system at the very top of my list of priorities. I thank Speaker John Diehl for trusting my expertise, and I look forward to working with Chair Kathryn Swan on legislation that will improve Missouri’s schools.”Spencer is a 22-year career teacher and Hall of Fame inductee for the Francis Howell School District. Following his 2012 election, Spencer began teaching at Liberty Christian Academy in Wright City, where he was recently recognized locally as Teacher of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5327, as well as being selected as the VFW Regional 9 Teacher of the Year.In addition, Spencer was named to serve as vice chairman of the Employment Security Committee, which will oversee regulation and administration of various systems and programs operated by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Spencer was also appointed to serve on both the Agriculture Policy and the Utility Infrastructure Committees.“These committee assignments will help me out tremendously in making sure the needs of Western St. Charles and Eastern Warren counties are met,” Spencer added. “This is a great opportunity to address some of the basic needs of both my district and our state.”State Rep.
