The Special Olympics torch run starts at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, in Foristell and concludes around noon at Warrenton City Hall with a celebration and barbecue with Special Olympic athletes and runners.“Any and all are welcome at the celebration,” said Officer Kevin Swofford with the Warrenton Police Department. “This is an amazing time for the law enforcement officers and the athletes to interact with one another and raise awareness for a great organization.”Special Olympic athletes are joining law enforcement participants on the run.Retired Missouri Highway Patrol Assistant Superintendent Ralph Biele will be the guest speaker.Biele started the Missouri Law Enforcement Torch Run in 1986. Law Enforcement Torch Run participants finish the final few blocks of the torch run in May 2017. The run begins in Foristell and ends in Warrenton.
