To The Editor,As a property tax payer in Warren County I am concerned that everyone’s solution for county issues is another property tax. This proposition was put forth once before and failed on April 2. Does that mean it keeps needing to come forward again and again until it passes? The biggest benefit for this are the local manufacturing facilities that are in our community. What are those facilities doing to help support this? Other companies offer apprenticeships, job fairs, and incentives to draw the talent they need. They provide input, guidance and funds to technical schools to get the skilled workforce they are desiring.I worked my way through college and then worked even harder to pay back those loans once I joined the workforce. I am discouraged to see that the only solution that keeps being proposed is another property tax. One of the biggest reasons companies move manufacturing facilities to smaller communities is they simply have lower cost of living, meaning that manufacturing plants can get the lower wages for filling the positions in those plants. This works, but at some point filling those technical positions will become more and more challenging. The solution should not be another tax increase. Manufacturing companies need to do more to get the workforce they desire. I will again be voting “No” on this.Dean EechauteWarrenton
