The Wright City softball team is rounding into form at just the right time.
With just days left in the regular season, the Wildcats (11-13) won the team’s third straight game on Tuesday, rolling past Van-Far on the road by a 15-0 score in four innings.
After scoring a run in the top of the first to jump to the lead, the Wildcats opened the floodgates, scoring five runs in the second inning, three more in the third and six in the fourth to cap the offensive blitz.
Emma Clubb and Haley Elsenrath led the team with a double and four RBI each. As a team, Wright City swatted five doubles, as Lorelai Kellner led the way with a pair, while adding three RBI.
In the circle, Kellner was dominant. She threw a one-hitter while walking three and striking out five.
Wright City will return home at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday to take on Wellsville-Middletown for the team’s Senior Night game.
WARRENTON SOFTBALL 15, ST. CHARLES WEST 4 (5 INNINGS) – The Warrenton softball team overcame an early deficit to run away with the victory at West on Tuesday.
Trailing 2-1 after an inning, Warrenton (10-11) scored 10 runs over the next two innings to roll to victory.
The big hit of what turned out to be the decisive second inning was a two-run single by Brylen Shoults.
Hannah Gibson earned the win for the Warriors.
Warrenton will next play Washington at 4:15 p.m. today.
WRIGHT CITY BOYS SOCCER 8, HAZELWOOD EAST 0 – Freshman Giannie Tiscareno had a big game, tallying a trio of goals for the Wildcats.
Wright City (5-9) also got goals from Zach Frey-Collins, Thomas Wilgus, Landon Luetkenhaus and Irving Chavira.
Assists came from Wyatt Smith, Wilgus, Kamden Lichtenstein, Brayden Swayze, Frey-Collins, Tony Cortes-Valencia and Drew Staats as the Wildcats won for the fourth time in six games.
Joseph Hall earned the shutout win in goal.
Wright City returns to the pitch at 4:30 p.m. tonight at home against Veritas Christian.
WARRENTON BOYS SOCCER 3, MISSOURI MILITARY ACADEMY 2 – The Warriors overcame a slow start to earn the victory at home.
Two goals by Tyler Scruggs paved the way for Caden Baum’s game-winning tally for the Warriors (6-4).
James Street, Gavin Thompson and Ian Young each recorded an assist in the win.
Rylee McGee made four saves to earn the win.
Warrenton is off until the team travels to Wright City for a 6 p.m. kickoff next Monday.
ORCHARD FARM VOLLEYBALL 3, WARRENTON 0 – One day after a thrilling five-set win over Fulton, the Warrenton girls volleyball team fell at home.
Orchard Farm earned the 25-10, 25-10, 25-24 win over the Warriors (5-10).
Warrenton will return to the court for the cross-county rivalry at Wright City at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
NUTE, ROBERTSON SHINE AT BOONVILLE – Seniors Morgan Nute and Alexa Robertson shared the low score at the Boonville Invitational with Eldon junior Haven Evers.
Playing a shamble/scramble/best ball format for six holes each, the pair recorded six birdies and eight pars on the way to recording the low score, along with Eldon.
