The annual Slim’s Journey, a 5K run and 2.5K walk through Warrenton and Truesdale, will be held Saturday, Sept. 23.It will begin and end at College United Methodist Church, 701 E. Main St.The event raises money and awareness for the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). Friedreich’s ataxia, which is diagnosed in 1 in 50,000 people worldwide, affects the nervous system and the heart.It’s a progressive disease that often first manifests in young people as muscle weakness and lack of balance and coordination.Participants can pick up race packets from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at College United Methodist Church or from 7-7:45 a.m. Saturday.
