Record Managing EditorLed by six medalists, the Warrenton boys and girls cross country teams were both near the top of the standings at the Frank Lemons Invitational in Hannibal.The Warriors were second in the boys standings, compiling 80 points to finish behind the host school which had 40 points. Meanwhile, the girls wound up third after losing a tiebreaker to runner-up Mexico. Moberly won the team crown with 51 points.Nathan Nordwald placed sixth to lead Warrenton. He completed the 3.1-mile race in 18 minutes, 39 seconds.Teammates Dylan Chandler and James Goetz followed in 12th and 13th in 19:14 and 19:16, respectively, for the Warriors. The top 15 runners earned medals.Others running for the Warriors were Matthew Hackman (21st, 20:04) and Ben Hoelscher (39th, 20:52).Randy McRoberts sat out the race with an injury, according to Head Coach Jeremy Collins.“It was a tough course causing times to be a little slower, but the effort was great and they are running really well,” he said.Andrea Poole led the girls team with a fifth-place medal. She ran the race in 23:17.“She had a good race and was able to finish strong,” Collins said.Other medalists were Meagan Sanders and Mary Broker, who placed 10th and 13th, respectively, in 24:04 and 24:37.“It was good to see Meagan step it up,” Collins said. “She has been working extremely hard and it is really starting to show.”Darya Wilke (34th, 27:33) and Emma Housewright (46th, 29:38) also ran for Warrenton.Warrenton is back in action this Thursday for the Gateway Athletic Conference North Division meet. The race will be held at Orchard Farm starting at 4 p.m.Warriors
