Warrenton is exercising its bragging rights.New signs will be posted at the city’s eastern and western boundaries along Interstate 70 proclaiming Warrenton as “Home of the 2015 and 2016 Class 3 Softball State Champions.”Warrenton’s Board of Aldermen approved an agreement Feb. 21 with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to install and maintain the signs below the city’s two main city limit signs along the interstate.The city will pay MoDOT a one-time fee of $1,000 each for the two signs to be maintained and replaced as necessary for up to 10 years.The new signage will join two other plaques proclaiming the accomplishments of Hanna Keene and Ashley Bauer, Missouri State Fair queens for 2014 and 2013, respectively.After cruising to the first state championship in school history in 2015, the Warrenton Warriors came back even better last fall, posting a 27-1 record and winning their final 24 games.They outscored their playoff opponents 57-7, and beat Sullivan in the state championship game Oct. 22 in Springfield, 3-0.New Sign
