A convicted sex offender already serving time in prison was sentenced to a new seven-year term for having sex with a 14-year-old girl a few years ago.Michael A. Brown, 32, formerly of the 1100 block of Lilac in Warrenton, pleaded guilty to second-degree statutory rape during a court appearance Jan. 5. He received the maximum sentence from Circuit Judge Wes Dalton.In 2014, Brown was found guilty of two counts of failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to seven years in prison. At last week’s hearing, Dalton ordered the new sentence to run concurrent with his previous conviction.Warren County deputies reported that Brown and the teen girl engaged in sex in his car during an encounter on Kristy Dive in the winter of 2011-2012. The victim told police that she had known Brown for about a year and had contact with him on his cellphone and Facebook account.During a meeting with Brown Sept. 10, 2012, he touched her thighs and hips and tried to make her kiss him. She refused and told him to stop, according to the probable cause statement.Deputies located Brown on Highway F near Kristy Drive around 3 p.m. Sept. 10, and learned that he was in the area to meet the victim. Brown told authorities he thought the girl was 17, according to a probable cause statement.On Sept. 13, the victim participated in a recorded phone call with Brown, who indicated that he knew the girl was a juvenile since the time that he had met her.In February 2002, Brown was convicted of statutory sodomy and rape of an 11-year-old girl in St. Louis County. He pleaded guilty to three felony counts, according to online court records, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.Michael A. Brown
