Sex offender charged with 2010 child sodomy

Warren County prosecutors are charging a convicted sex offender with sexually assaulting a young boy in 2010.Kenneth D. Edwards, 53, is charged with first-degree statutory sodomy involving a victim less than 12 years old.A Warrenton police report states officers began an investigation in April 2018 when they were contacted by a state Children’s Division investigator in Callaway County. A child there reportedly disclosed that he was sexually assaulted by Kenneth Edwards in 2010, when the child was around 7 years old. Police allege the assault happened at a home on Johannaber Avenue in Warrenton.A police report summary of the victim’s statements to a forensic interviewer describe an encounter in which Edwards allegedly raped the boy while using his hand to cover the boy’s mouth.The Missouri State Sex Offender Registry indicates Edwards is currently incarcerated for statutory sodomy and incest charges involving a girl under the age of 14.Edwards was convicted by a Franklin County jury in 2016, after being accused of multiple sex acts with a young girl in Warren County between 2004 and 2008. He was sentenced to 34 years in prison by former Franklin County 20th Circuit Presiding Judge Gael D. Wood.Edwards has another prior conviction for sexual misconduct and pleaded guilty in 2013 to failing to register as a sex offender.Kenneth Edwards
