Seven Wildcats capture medals at EMO meet

Record Managing EditorSeven Wright City runners captured medals at the Eastern Missouri Conference Meet Monday.In the team standings, the boys and girls teams both placed second, behind conference champion Bowling Green. The Bobcats had 27 points to win the boys crown, ahead of the Wildcats who had 40 points. Wellsville was a distant third with 108 points.Bowling Green easily won the girls team title with 18 points, with Wright City (61) and Elsberry (62) rounding out the top three.Tristin Riley paced the Wright City boys with a fourth-place medal. He finished the 3.1-mile race in 19 minutes, 27 seconds.Brice Reash followed in sixth in 19:48 and Stephan Norwood was seventh in 19:50. Other medalists for the team were Jake Mueller in 11th in 20:05 and Nick Mueller in 12th in 20:14.The top 12 runners medal and earn all-conference recognition.“What a great job having five of our seven runners in the top 12,” Head Coach Sue Wright said.In the girls race, Wright City’s Jynna Fritz had the fourth-fastest time in 22:30. Teammate Erin Tomschin followed her to the finish line, placing sixth in 23:44.Wright was proud of her runners’ performance.“Everyone ran very well,” she said. “Most everyone had their personal best. This is what you want at this time of the year. I am very proud of the hard work these kids have done this season.”The Wildcats are back in action this Friday at Bowling Green. The district meet will be held Oct. 31 at the Pike County Fairgrounds in Bowling Green.Wildcats
