Hermann area resident John G. Pilger, 57, was hospitalized Thursday after a crash on Highway 94, west of Highway B, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A highway patrol crash report states Pilger was eastbound on Highway 94 at 2:25 p.m. when the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle drove off the right side of the road, and Pilger overcorrected, crossing the road and driving off the left side, the highway patrol said.
The patrol said the vehicle struck a fence, went airborne and then struck an embankment.
Pilger sustained serious injuries, and was taken by Hermann EMS to University Hospital in Columbia, according to the highway patrol. He was wearing a seat belt during the crash.
