Warren County seniors who have not yet applied for the Senior Property Tax Credit have until June 30 to submit their applications.
According to Warren County Collector Julie Schaumberg, residents who received the credit in 2025 do not need to reapply, as their applications will automatically renew for 2026.
First-time applicants must apply in person at the Warren County Collector's Office, located on the first floor of the county administration building. Applicants must be at least 62 years old, own and occupy their Warren County home as their primary residence, and be responsible for paying the property's taxes. Identification and property information are required when applying.
The tax credit program was authorized through state legislation and adopted locally by the Warren County Commission in 2024. The credit applies only to eligible property taxes and does not cover state taxes or taxes associated with voter-approved bond issues.
Approved credits will be reflected on taxpayers' property tax bills later this year. For more information, contact the Warren County Collector's Office.
