Whispering Pines Retirement Community in Warrenton has changed its name to Oak Pointe of Warrenton Assisted Living and Memory Care.Oak Pointe, operated by Provision Living Senior Living Communities, LLC, announced the name change after attaining state certification on Feb. 9, to operate as an assisted living and memory care community. Oak Pointe of Warrenton is located at 700 Forest Ave.Prior to licensure, the community accommodated independent living residents. Today, Oak Pointe has 53 assisted living apartments; 10 dedicated to memory care. As an assisted living and memory care community, Oak Pointe of Warrenton now offers the highest level of personal care services possible to enable residents to age in place. Provision Living Senior Living Communities has been preparing for this transition and licensure for several months.Stephanie Horn, executive director at Oak Pointe of Warrenton, said, “Our residents have all the independence they are looking for, with the personal attention and care services needed to maintain radiant, healthy lives where they are loved, inspired and thriving. We recognize how challenging it is for seniors to move from place to place, and we wanted to provide a solution that meets the changing needs of our seniors. We can now do that as a licensed assisted living and memory care community.”Oak Pointe’s new personalized care services include medication administration and reminders; assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming; escort to, from meals and activities, and scheduled well-being checks. For residents living with Alzheimer’s or related memory loss, Oak Pointe offers a program to maximize happiness and individuality. Its dementia enrichment program utilizes therapeutic activities such as art projects, conversational events and interactions with pet companions. As part of the transition to memory care, the entire staff was provided specialized dementia training. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, employees specifically trained in dementia care are able to provide better quality of life for residents and have increased confidence, productivity and job satisfaction.“Caring for a person dealing with memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is an extremely inspiring job,” said Horn. “Memory impairments can affect how a person thinks, acts or feels, and these changes can be particularly hard on family members who have taken on the role of caregiver. By providing staff with specialized care training, family members are able to return to their roles as sons, daughters and spouses, knowing that their loved ones are being cared for in the best possible way.”In addition to improvements in services, Provision Living invested $800,000 in improvements and remodeling to the building and grounds. The memory care area has access to a secure outdoor area that will allow residents to explore activities including gardening, pet therapy, walking groups and reminiscence. The interior halls were refurbished to provide better site lines and wide-open spaces, and the décor was completely updated throughout the community to have a comfortable classic style. For more information about Oak Pointe of Warrenton, call 636-549-8577 or visit www.oakpointewarrenton.com.Oak Pointe
