The Wright City R-II School District is searching for a new middle school principal.Following the recent resignation of Dr. Steven Richards, the district is in the process of narrowing down a candidate field of 16 applicants.A hiring committee of 17 people from a variety of backgrounds has selected four candidates to review.“We’re looking for a leader who is going to take us forward,” said Superintendent Dr. David Buck. The district is hopeful to have a candidate to take before the board for approval at its April 15 meeting.“We’ve come up with traits that we’re looking for,” said Buck.“When they interview it will be intensive with five hours of interviews with subgroups,” he said.Richards spent just one year in the district after a substantial administrative career in the Hazelwood School District. He is the only administrator in the district not returning, as all other building and central office administrative staff have signed their contracts to return for the 2019-2020 school year.Assistant Principal Stephanie Martin remains in the district for what will be her second year at Wright City Middle School.Wright City School District logo
