After nearly 90 years in Dutzow, the tractor company Schweissguth Brothers Inc. will be sold to Sydenstricker Implement. The acquisition of the John Deere business was effective Feb. 1, according to both parties. The Schweissguth Brothers will still operate the Kubota dealership in Union, according to Bob Schweissguth, who owns the business with his brothers, Burt, Mike and Dave Schweissguth.Bob Schweissguth said all personnel will stay the same, including that he, Burt and Mike will continue working at Sydenstricker Implement and Dave Schweissguth will remain in Union. The only difference, he said, is that Kubota tractors under warranty will have to be serviced in Union, and John Deere tractors under warranty will have to be serviced in Dutzow. Both sites will be able to work on both brands if they are not under warranty, Bob Schweissguth said.“This will allow us to continue the quality of service our customers deserve and at the same time will ensure job security for our dedicated employees,” he said.Sydenstricker Implement currently operates 10 John Deere dealerships in Missouri and has been in the implement business for more than 70 years.Owner Eddie Sydenstricker, who has been working with the Schweissguth Brothers on the acquisition, said he’s excited about future opportunities.Through the Dutzow location, Sydenstricker will increase its current coverage of St. Charles, Warren and Franklin counties. The dealership also will gain responsibility for Jefferson, Washington and St. Louis counties. The Dutzow facility will be a full John Deere parts, attachment, service and sales location, selling lawnmowers and turf products, compact tractors, large agriculture equipment, and commercial work site products. The Schweissgurth Brothers business started out as a blacksmith shop in 1929, but soon moved to the implement business, according to the business’ website. In 1937, Schweissguth Brothers began selling John Deere tractors in Dutzow.Sydenstricker
