School checking for damage in gym that flooded

Wright City School District is working to restore the gym at the district’s middle school to full functionality after water flooded a large section of the floor.Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Way said a faulty water softener tank in the building overflowed the weekend of Feb. 2. Water saturated about 900 square feet of the gym floor, as well as in an adjoining maintenance closet and the boys locker room, he said. The damage caused school officials to move a Feb. 13 awards event from the middle school to Wright City West Elementary.“We have had the water softener tank repaired and we are currently working with CATCO (cleaning and restoration service) to help us get all the moisture out of the gym floor,” Way said. “We will continue to monitor the gym floor and if any repairs are needed, we hope to do so over the summer.”He added that most of the gymnasium is usable at this time, and officials hope to have more information by the end of this week.

Wright City School District has hired a company to remove moisture from the floor of the middle school gymnasium after a system malfunction caused water to flood several areas.
