Eric Schleuter has retained his seat as mayor of Warrenton.
With a comfortable lead of 467 votes to 378, a 10-percent margin, Schleuter defeated Ward 1 Alderman Mike Shilharvey for the seat. The race was decided by about 18 percent of registered voters in the city of Warrenton.
“I really love that people supported what we’ve accomplished,” Schleuter said. The city will continue moving forward with economic development plans it has in motion, he said. “We’re going to concentrate on downtown. We’re going to concentrate on projects we have going and see them to fruition.”
Schleuter said he was with Shilharvey when the results were announced, and that Shilharvey congratulated him. Schleuter thanked Shilharvey for running a clean race that wasn’t hard on the city.
