Ward 3 Alderman John Clark followed with 255 votes, or 41 percent, while Wayne J. He topped Clark who had been a mainstay on the board for years, having served in two different stints.“I am excited,” Schleuter told The Record. “I think the citizens are ready for changes. It’s not a cliché, I am excited to push that forward.”Schleuter will succeed Mike Shilharvey, who was appointed in December in the aftermath of Jerry Dyer’s passing. He will also have to appoint someone to fill his vacant spot on the board.Schleuter said he is eager to form better relationships within the business community and make sure Warrenton is moving in a progressive manner.“People want to see growth, they just don’t want to see us explode,” he said. “I agree with them. Sometimes you hear people say that it seems the town is downtrodden. I don’t believe that, but I hear that. We all have to work on it. We have to pull together.”The vote total by ward was as follows: Ward 1 — Schleuter, 114; Clark, 79; and Smith, 15. Ward 2 — Schleuter, 150; Clark, 94; and Smith, 11.
