Schedule changing at Warrenton Aquatic Center

The city of Warrenton is announcing changes at its aquatic center, including the hours certain features will be available, and when the pool’s main programs will be scheduled. The changes were introduced by new Aquatic Director Lisa Kramer, who came to the city about a month ago.“I’ve been able to talk with members at the pool and staff, and look at statistics, and I have come up with some changes that we’re going to have at the pool that I think will be in the best interest of everybody,” Kramer said. “One of those is that we’re going to have lap swimming and the river walk open all day, every day. So anybody wanting to come in can use either of those areas of the pool at any time.”The Aquatic Center is also expanding “toddler time” to be Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. This is the time when families with very young children can enjoy the pool and not have to contend with older children and teens, Kramer explained.Open recreation swim time will be added on weekdays from noon to 4 p.m. Right now, it doesn’t start until 4 p.m. those days. The added time will allow families with young children who want something to do during the day to come and use the pool, Kramer said. The pool also will close earlier on Saturdays and open later on Sundays because attendance records showed people weren’t using the pool during those hours.Kramer said she also intends to expand swim lesson and exercise class offerings.“I have sent out a survey to find out what parents and families are wanting, as far as days and times, so that we can accommodate what they want,” she explained. To encourage more people to sign up, Kramer said the aquatic center is putting a discount on class sign-ups for pool members.Group swim lessons have been reorganized for different age groups and experience levels, beginning Oct. 13.For “Aquacise” water aerobics classes, there are morning, afternoon and evening times throughout the week.Kramer said the aquatic center is also still looking for instructors and lifeguards. For a full schedule of when the aquatic center is open for different activities throughout the week, go to www.warrenton-mo.org.
