Nine local businesses are working together to host a free holiday event for the community.“Santa Claus is Coming to Town” will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Oliver’s Restaurant, 289 W. Veterans Memorial Parkway, Warrenton. This is a free event for families.Robin Meier with Sharper Image Design Studio is one of the organizers. She said families should expect to see Santa and elves, and enjoy a breakfast buffet and children’s activities.Meier said the event will have pictures with Santa, crafts, face painting, games for kids and gingerbread man decorating.Another highlight is an opportunity for kids to write letters to Santa.“And all of those letters will be answered,” Meier said.Kids will receive treat bags and toys to take home. The hosts are prepared for a good crowd throughout the day.“Being the first year, we don’t know what to expect. We’re prepared for 200,” Meier said. The event is being provided to the community by a group of businesses.“We wanted to provide something local and free for kids. We started collaborating and some businesses started offering contributions for the event. It started growing from there,” said Meier.Contributions came from Gastorff Chevrolet, West plex Real Estate LLC, Sellenriek Construction Incorporated, Oliver’s, Shaper Image, Mary Raterman CPA LLC, Jonesburg State Bank, PDK Investments and Home Town Bakery. For more information, look for “Santa is Coming to Warrenton” on Facebook.Santa close up
