SAF-Holland donates $5,000 for Care to Learn

SAF-Holland donated $5,000 to the Care to Learn Warrenton program.SAF-Holland Inc. is a global commercial vehicle supplier and independent parts manufacturer for trailers and semi-trailers, trucks and buses. The company has a plant at 308 W. Walton St., in Warrenton.The presentation was made Feb. 5 in the Black Hawk Middle School store. Throughout the year, students shop there for supplies, snacks, nonperishable food, clothing and more. Items are new or gently used.SAF-Holland representatives toured the school store and had an opportunity to find out more about the students’ needs.Care to Learn is a program that relies on donations to help students who need assistance in the area of health, hunger and hygiene.Black Hawk Middle School Principal Lisa Pirrung said when administrators and staff learn about a student in need, Care to Learn and a network of “quiet helpers,” find the support they need.The idea behind Care to Learn is for these basic needs to be provided so that students can focus on learning.SAF-Holland Human Resources Administrator Trina Barks said the donation is thanks to the company’s corporate social responsibility program.Care to Learn was selected as a beneficiary because they believed it would be a long-lasting investment in the lives of local children.“(As a corporation) you have to make your community better,” said Spencer Garbs, plant manager. “You have to help nurture the community.”Care to Learn - Warrenton provides services throughout the Warren County School District.

SAF-Holland in Warrenton donated $5,000 to Care to Learn, Warrenton. The program provides supplies and services to kids whose education is interrupted because they are coping with issues related to health, hunger or hygiene.
