Roy James "Jim" McAdams, 77, formerly of Holstein/Treloar, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL.

Jim was born July 8, 1944, in Washington, MO, to Roy O. McAdams and Leona McAdams Pruessner. He graduated from Warren Co. R-III High School in 1962 as a celebrated track star who excelled in hurdles and the broad jump, including setting a state record in the hurdles in 1962.

After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and embarked on a twenty-year career that took him all over the world, serving in Thailand, the Philippines, Holland, England, and short times in other countries. When stateside, he was most often stationed in Florida or South Carolina, but he also served on bases in Texas and Illinois as well as periodic missions to multiple states.  After retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant, he settled in Gadsden, AL, with his wife and children where he was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Jim’s greatest enjoyment beyond devotion to his family was antique model cars. He was also an avid reader.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy O. McAdams and Leona McAdams Pruessner; stepfather, Leroy Pruessner; and daughter, Sandra McAdams Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Nichols McAdams; children, Susie (Ricky) Graham, Chris (Charity) McAdams, and Cindy McAdams Kilgo; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Kathryn McAdams (Gadsden, AL) and MaryBeth (Dennis) Fricke (of Hermann, MO); and many nieces and nephews.

Father Jose Chacko officiated a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church.  Burial with military honors followed at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services. Pallbearers were Chris McAdams, Ricky Graham, Johnny Kilgo, Christopher McAdams, Nicholas McAdams, and Brady Henson.
