Wright City police last Friday arrested a robbery suspect who allegedly faked having a gun before being tackled by customers at Abel’s Kwik Shop.
Tyler D. Pudiwitr, 23, of Columbia, was taken into custody Feb. 5 and charged with first-degree robbery, a class A felony.
Police said Pudiwitr entered Abel’s just before 6 p.m. holding a TV remote under his shirt to fake having a gun. He allegedly admitted to threatening store clerks with his “weapon,” in order to get cash to set up a new house, according to an arrest report. As he was attempting to leave with the money, customers reportedly tackled Pudiwitr and held him there until police arrived.
Pudiwitr was arraigned on Feb. 9 and is being held at the Warren County Jail without bond. His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.
