Wright City's Riggs places first at Priory Invitational

Wright City senior David Riggs went 5-0 this past weekend to win his weight class at the Priory Invitational. 

Riggs won five matches Saturday to win the 138-pound weight class. Riggs pinned Cole Williams-Caldwell of John Burroughts, Kyle Colombini of Bishop Dubourg, AJ Siegel of North Callaway and Aaron Parasch of Priory. He pinned all four opponents in less than 1:20. Riggs also beat Joseph Moreno of Roosevelt by injury default. 

Lane Graves went 3-2 to place third in the 132-pound weight class. Graves pinned Jarvis Means of Maplewood, Gabe Dunaway of Priory and Nicholas Evans of New Madrid County Central on his three wins. 

Isaiah Yoder earned a win in the 165-pound weight class and placed fourth. He beat Luke Chisenall of New Madrid County Central on a 15-8 decision. 

Wright City is scheduled to compete at the Missouri Military Academy Colonel Classic Saturday. 

Three Wright City wrestlers finish second at Seckman 

Wright City wrestlers Caelyn Hanff, Kali Jensen and Elizabeth Riggs all took home second place finishes at the Seckman Invitational. 

All three wrestlers went 3-1 in four matches to place second in their weight class. Wrestling in the 170-pound weight class, Hanff earned wins over Justice Sebree of St. Charles West, Loren Thurmon of Washington and Regan Scoby of Seckman. She pinned all three opponents. She lost a match to Kami Ratcliff of Belleville East on an 8-5 decision. 

Jensen placed second in the 115-pound weight class. She pinned Delaney Rapp of Windsor, Chaire Perks of Richwood Summit and Hannah Allen of Park Hills Central in her three wins. 

Wrestling in the 125-pound weight class, Riggs pinned Holly Zugmaiere of Edwardsville, Mollie Metzger of Jackson and Addison Geiler of Ste. Genevieve. 

Lauren Ritter and Ella Greenwell Washburn both took home third place finishes for the Lady Wildcats. Ritter went 3-2 in the 145-pound weight class. She earned a pair of wins in the opening round of matches, pinning Reese Ronzio of Windsor and Isabel Duvall of Webster Groves. She pinned Kaliyah Broner of St. Charles West to win the third place match. 

Greenwell Washburn beat Kara Schemkes of St. Charles in a 5-0 decision in the 235-pound weight class. 

The Lady Wildcats will compete in the Class 1, District 2 tournament later this month. The district tournament will be held Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 at North Point High School.
