A text-to-911 message from a passenger in a vehicle driving on Interstate 70 led to the arrest of a Rhode Island man Tuesday who was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a loaded revolver.
The suspect, identified as Lawrence Silva, was charged with two felony counts of drug possession and unlawful use of a weapon. Silva was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. in the westbound area of the 188-mile marker in Warren County. The caller told dispatch they were in danger and unable to exit the vehicle.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Warren County deputy Sgt. Aaron Levinson, a traffic stop was initiated and a search of the vehicle was made. A loaded revolver was seized, along with multiple glass pipes with residue and a bag containing meth.
