Record Managing EditorThe completion of the Wright City sewer study has been extended and is now on schedule to be ready by the end of June.Kuhlmann Design Group sought 35-day contract extension, from May 12 to June 26, due to inclement weather delaying field operations. Aldermen voted 4-0 to grant the extension at last Thursday’s board meeting. As part of the study, the city will receive a report outlining the existing conditions of the system, causes of problems and possible solutions within the trunk mains and wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater treatment facility will also be evaluated with possible solutions to be presented in operation and additional treatment processes to remove higher amounts of ammonia to meet new regulatory limits. The trunk main systems will be evaluated using flow meters and visual inspections to determine the causes of surcharges and backups within the system near the treatment plant. In addition, possible solutions and options to relieve issues within the trunk sewer mains based on inspections and modeling will be reported. A layout of the sewer system will be started with a focus on the main trunk lines.Wright City received a $50,000 grant to help offset the $62,900 cost of the sewer study from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
