State Rep. Bryan Spencer will lead a newly formed committee charged with developing policies to improve educational outcomes and enhance the educational experience for students.Spencer was recently appointed by House Speaker Elijah Haahr to chair the Special Committee on Student Accountability for the 100th General Assembly.Speaker Haahr said Spencer is the ideal choice to lead the new committee because of his extensive experience in the field of education and his efforts to sponsor and pass legislation to expand educational options for students.“Rep. Bryan Spencer has been one of our leaders on education issues and has done outstanding work in securing passage of legislation that opens the doors of opportunity for young people in all parts of the state. He will do an outstanding job as he leads this new committee to explore even more options to give our young people a world class education,” said Speaker Haahr, R-Springfield.Spencer has previously served on the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee. He has sponsored legislation such as the Student Accountability Act and the Missouri Course Access Program to expand the state’s virtual school offerings to all K-12 students. The Missouri Course Access Program was passed into law during the 2018 regular session.“I want to thank Speaker Haahr for creating this committee and giving me the opportunity to work directly on an issue that is a true passion of mine. I have focused my career in the Legislature on improving our system of education and giving students the tools they need to succeed. I am excited to work with the members of my committee to advance policy that further improves the learning experience for young people throughout Missouri,” said Spencer, R-Wentzville.Rep.
