Relay For Life of Warren County is close at hand. The annual event, which raises money for the American Cancer Society, will be held Friday, June 7, from 4-10 p.m. at Black Hawk Middle School, 302 Kuhl Ave., Warrenton. This year’s honorees are Al and Jean Briggs, creators of the Inspirations cancer support group. The support group, which is on hiatus, had met for years to help cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones connect and cope.American Cancer Society Community Development Manager Kate Bohn, who is helping organize the event, hopes the entire community will help pay tribute to this year’s honorees. She said the Briggses have been an integral part of our Relay For Life family for many years. But Al and Jean may not be able to attend the event.“We’re making a call to the community to send in any testimonials and stories they have about Jean, Al and the support group in how they’ve impacted their community, especially as a light in the fight against cancer,” Bohn said.“Even more so, we’d love to have as many people at the event as possible for pictures and personalized letters to be made,” she said. The Relay For Life opening ceremony starts at 6 p.m. and will include the honoring of Al, Jean and the Inspirations and the annual survivor lap.Entertainment includes a traveling escape room, bouncy house, face painting, Bubble Bus and more. The luminaria ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m.For more information or to share personal stories about the Briggses, email kate.bohn@cancer.org or call 314-286-8186.Relay for Life
