Relay for Life to hold 20th reunion kickoff March 10

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Warren County is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will host a free 20th reunion kickoff party Friday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at the Warrenton Fire House on Fairgrounds Road in Warrenton.Everyone, including past and current participants, former committee members, team captains, survivors and sponsors as well as the rest of the public, is invited to the kickoff to learn about how to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.The party will offer live music by local country/rock/blues artist Bethany Caudill and feature Simply a Princess character appearances from Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter, as well as a photo booth.Papa John’s is donating pizzas for the event, and the event leadership team will be providing additional refreshments.The 2017 Relay For Life of Warren County theme will be revealed and information will be available about this year’s Relay, which will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Black Hawk Middle School track. Guests will have the opportunity to register a team or sign up for other volunteer opportunities through the Relay.The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and take action to finish the fight once and for all.Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community, with 4 million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015.Last year, 235 people registered for the Relay For Life of Lincoln County, with even more than that in attendance at the actual event, and raised more than $90,000.“This is our community’s opportunity to help save lives from cancer by taking our message to more people and raising more dollars to fund the fight,” said Kanna Rook, American Cancer Society staff partner. “Together, our efforts can make a big difference.”Visit relayforlife.org or relayforlife.org/warrencomo to learn more about the event, or contact Kanna Rook at 636-866-4884 or kanna.rook@cancer.org.Relay for Life
