Relay For Life of Warren County will take place this Saturday, Aug. 27, from 3 to 11 p.m. at Black Hawk Middle School, 302 Kuhl Ave. in Warrenton.The event celebrates life and remembers those who have lost the battle with cancer. It also raises money for the American Cancer Society in its mission to raise awareness and find a cure.“You go to these Relays and you hear the stories. People share their stories,” said Carie Biggs, a committee member for Relay For Life of Warren County. “But Relay For Life is a community event. It’s fun. There are things for the kids. It raises awareness and brings the community together.”The evening will offer raffles, auctions and goodies for sale; bubble soccer, a dunking booth, and live music by the Captain Courageous band from 3-5 p.m.The opening ceremony starts at 6 p.m. The survivors lap is at 6:30 p.m., and the caregivers lap, for those who cared for a loved one with cancer, is at 6:35 p.m.The luminaria ceremony, to remember those who lost their cancer battle, will take place at 8:30 p.m. and closing ceremonies are at 11 p.m.The theme is “Get Your Game On!” Teams can sign up online at www.relayforlife.org/warrencom.The event’s goal is 25 teams and $45,000.
