Recycle your Christmas Tree

The East Central Missouri Recycling Center, 24448 South Highway 47 in Warrenton, offers area residents an opportunity to recycle both live and artificial Christmas trees at no cost. Also accepted will be Christmas lights, wrapping paper, cards and boxes, along with any old electronics or appliances. There will be a $10 fee for televisions and computer monitors. Individuals may recycle many other items at the center, including plastic, glass, aluminum and tin cans. A complete list is available at www.boonslick.org/recycling-center.According to some estimates, Americans throw away 25 percent more trash during the Thanksgiving to New Year’s holiday period than any other time of the year. The East Central Missouri Recycling Center has collected approximately 200 tons of recyclables during the past year and hopes to divert additional material from the landfills with this emphasis on post-holiday collection. The center is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day), and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
