The Warren County Record won five awards in two newspaper contests recognizing the staff’s work against the best from across the state.
The Record had two second-place finishes in the Missouri Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the Missouri Press Association and Missouri Press Foundation. Tim Schmidt took second for Best Front Page Design.
“Nice, clean design and sophisticated logo. Like the teasers format and mostly subtle color design. No need to drop shadow on photos. Good writing and community coverage. Well done!” said the contest judge.
Adam Rollins and Scott Dupree were recognized for Best Information Graphic for an illustration outlining COVID-19 cases in the county.
The judge said, “nice use of subtlety in design and color use. Good breakdown and visual of where county cases are. Most tasteful in category. Nice work!”
In the Missouri Press Advertising and Marketing Executives Best Ad Contest, Mandy Andrews and Dupree received a second-place award for Best Ad Content Entire Publication. They also received a third-place award for Best Shared/Signature Page (Memorial Day full page) and Best Full Page Ad (Main Street Real Estate ad).
The awards for both contests were presented Saturday, Sept. 27, at the MPA Convention held in Excelsior Springs.
