Rear-end crash stalls traffic on Highway 47

Three people were taken to the hospital following a crash Friday evening, Dec. 2, on Highway 47, north of the Missouri River bridge.The crash stalled traffic for more than an hour as Missouri Highway Patrol troopers worked the scene.The patrol said a southbound 2001 Dodge pickup truck driven by Ryan G. Durbin, 23, Augusta, struck the rear of a 1989 GMC 2500 driven by Dale A. Hembrock, 50, St. Clair. A third southbound vehicle, a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Jaclyn R. England, 28, Lake Saint Louis, struck the left rear of the Durbin truck, according to the preliminary patrol report.Hembrock and two passengers, Anthony J. Hester, 25, St. Clair, and Brett A. Hester, 22, Washington, sustained minor to moderate injuries in the crash and were taken to Mercy Hospital Washington for treatment. They were not wearing safety belts, according to the patrol report.The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Highway 47 at Augusta Bottom Road.
