Ralph Hellebusch to retire from Warren County Ambulance District

Ralph Hellebusch, CEO of the Warren County Ambulance District is retiring after 36 years of service.His retirement was announced by the ambulance district March 6.Hellebusch served in the Missouri National Guard and is a Desert Storm veteran. He started his EMS career as a volunteer EMT for the Marthasville Ambulance District. He joined the Warren County Ambulance District part time in 1982 and full-time in 1985.In 1982, when Hellebusch was one of two staff employees, the district responded to 562 emergency medical calls. That number has grown to about 4,400 per year.Through the decades, the district grew to four bases and about 50 employees.Hellebusch, who was born in Washington and raised in Warren County, graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School. He is a past Warren County deputy coroner.Aside from his role as chief, he often can be found in the community; serving on boards, in organizations and attending or helping at community events.The Warren County Ambulance District staff and board of directors will honor Hellebusch with a public open house later in the year. The date will be announced when details have been finalized.Warren County Ambulance District
