The plan is coming together for Truesdale’s Railroad Days to be held May 30 as the board of aldermen approved several agreements relating to the event during their meeting March 11.
The board unanimously approved three agreements relating to the event March 11. The first agreement is for $1,550 with Bax Illustration, which will provide caricature drawings during the event. The second agreement is with Circus Kaput in the amount of $2,300. Circus Kaput provides a wide variety of entertainment services from magicians to balloon artists, face painters, jugglers and a whole host of other entertainment selections. The final agreement was for $4,800 with GW Events, which provides inflatables and bounce houses.
The event, which will be held at Bruer Park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., will also include live musical entertainment beginning at 11 a.m. with the Gateway Country Music Association, followed at 2:30 p.m. with Rock Mafia and closing out at 6 p.m. with REO Speedwagon tribute band Nine Lives.
According to Treasurer Missy Bachamp, the event currently has 14 vendors of which three are food vendors.
The board also voted unanimously to purchase four Americans with Disabilities Act complaint picnic tables at a cost of $1,081.87 each. Mayor Jerry Cannon said he has been in contact with the Warren County Developmental Disabilities Board and they have funding available that might allow coverage of some or all of the cost of the tables. During the meeting, Cannon also made a request to purchase four commemorative plates to be placed on each table in memory of Alderman Justin Naranjo, who passed away early last year. The purchase was also unanimously approved.
The board also approved a new agreement to run from April 1, 2026 to April 1, 2027 between the city and Missouri Rural Services Compensation Trust for workers compensation for employees at a cost of $22,056, which Cannon said was cheaper than previous years.
The board also voted to approve purchasing a new basketball hoop to replace one at Bruer Park that had been damaged, at a cost of $200.
