The Warren County R-III School Board will host a public forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Rebecca Boone Elementary Library to gather input regarding the district’s search for a new superintendent. District residents are encouraged to attend. The event will be hosted by Dr. Brent Underwood, the Missouri School Board Association representative contracted by the district to lead the superintendent search.“We want to take our time in searching for the right individual,” said Board President John Clinger. “Part of that means reaching out to the community to ask their input on what’s important when it comes to the person who is going to be leading our school district.”The district has been without a head superintendent since the late retirement of Dr. Jim Chandler in May.“With the late nature of his departure, we didn’t want to try to find a superintendent at that time, because we didn’t feel like we’d be able to attract good candidates,” said Clinger.Instead, the district assigned Assistant Superintendents Dr. Aaron Jones and Dr. Jill Schowe as interim co-superintendents.“So far we’ve been really pleased,” said Cilnger. “The start of school has been great and we’d had positive feedback from parents and staff.”In the meantime, the district is looking to narrow down its field of applicants and have a new superintendent named for the 2018-19 school year by the beginning of January.“During the forum we’ll explain how the search process works and hopefully get some discussion from the attendees,” said Clinger. “The feedback we receive will help us to determine the questions we use during our interviews with the candidates.”The district also had a staff forum planned for this Thursday. It is anticipated Underwood will have a candidate pool for the board to choose from later this week so they can move forward with interviews at the conclusion of the forums. For those not able to attend the forum, a survey is available online through the district’s website at www.warrencor3.org under the “Tell Us What You Think” headline.Warren County R-III School District
