R-III school bond project in final document stages

The Warren County R-III School Board received an update on the district’s $10 million bond project during the monthly meeting Nov. 10.Mark Reuther, with Hoener Associates Inc., district architect, shared details about the bid process and also provided construction and completion dates.“We are well into the documents phase at this point,” he said.The project is divided into two subcategories. Package No. 1 is the School District Maintenance Facility Addition and Package No. 2 is the Multiple Schools Additions and Renovations. The construction phase continues for each of these packages.“We are at approximately 75 percent completion on the Maintenance Facility Addition and with the Multiple Schools Package at approximately 85 percent complete,” said Reuther, as it relates to document process.The project team met again on Nov. 3 to review and address any remaining questions.Reuther noted that Lewis and Bade has quickly caught up with their civil engineering design and should make the target issue dates along with the remainder of the project team.Concerning the project schedule update, there was no change from the October meeting. For Package No. 1, the target issue date is Nov. 30, with a bid date of Jan. 10. It is anticipated to have bids awarded at the board meeting on Jan. 19.Construction is slated to begin on Jan. 30, with a completion date of May 30.As for Package No. 2, the target issue date is Dec. 7, with a bid date of Jan. 12. The bids for this package also are expected to be rewarded at the Jan. 19 meeting.Construction on the Warrenton High School multipurpose building should begin Jan. 30 and be finished in October or November of 2017.All other projects in Package No. 2 are slated to begin construction May 30 and have an anticipated completion date of July 28.Reuther also made a recommendation for the district to pass on the option of acquiring liquidated damages.“At this point in time, we don’t think it’s necessary,” he said. “It’s the weather that we are going to be dictated by, so that would be a board decision.”School bond
