R-III elementaries earn exemplary title

The Warren County R-III School District now has the honor of calling all three of its elementary schools distinguished.Last year Warrior Ridge Elementary earned the title of Missouri Exemplary Professional Learning Community. This school year Daniel Boone Elementary and Rebecca Boone Elementary have achieved the one-time honor. They were among only 19 schools across the state recognized this year.“It’s a lot of work, so it’s fantastic that they’ve been able to achieve that level of PLC,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Aaron Jones. Each building can only claim the recognition once but the title remains with the school. To qualify for the PLC status, a district must go through several rigorous steps. It begins with a implementation survey, in which at least 75 percent of the staff must participate. The school must then complete a self-assessment and go through an on-site review. In addition, they must submit evidence of increased academic achievement through charts and data. After making it through this preliminary process, they must continue through additional requirements.“It’s always nice to be recognized for your hard work as an administrator and teacher at those levels,” said Jones. “They have us going in the right direction to improve student achievement.”Daniel Boone Elementary also received 100-percent rating on its Annual Performance Report, which measures academic achievement, subgroup achievement and attendance. The school is ranked 193rd out of 1,032 elementary schools in Missouri.Principal Stacie Goldsmith says Daniel Boone excelled in the areas of collaboration, learning and effectively using data to increase student achievement.“I don’t think middle school is too far behind in receiving it,” added Jones. “They’re doing all the things they need to do to achieve this honor.”Jones says the recognition is a testament to the efforts being made at all levels to assure the students receive the best education possible.“I want to commend our staff for all of the hard work over the last four years committing to learning and living the Professional Learning Communities model,” said Rebecca Boone Elementary Principal Steve Weeks. “We are seeing positive results on our district and state assessments.”Warren County R-III School District
