The Warren County R-III School District discussed custodial staffing and community outreach during its Sept. 13 meeting. At the August meeting, Maintenance Director John Chandler expressed concern over not being able to find enough qualified staff to fill the vacant positions, subsequently putting overwhelming demands on the existing staff. It was decided at that time the district would go out for bids. The report of a lone bid of $150,000 was delivered at the September meeting. However, it was decided this route is no longer necessary, as the district was able to find adequate candidates to fill the open positions since the previous meeting.“The reason we bid this out is because we had a custodial shortage,” said Superintendent Dr. Gregg Klinginsmith. “As of now we only have one shortage.”Peach JarThe board also talked about making access to community events more accessible with Peach Jar. The resource would allow local organizations and companies to post information about their upcoming events.Peach Jar is a designated location where the district can put events with which it is not directly affiliated.Currently, events not sanctioned by the school are not able to be publicized by the school outside of flyers laying on counters, which draw limited attention. The district will provide the opportunity to list events through a link on the district’s website for $25.“This gives an information hub where they can post it on a link or send it out to parents,” said Klinginsmith.Warren County R-III School District logo
