David Herod will officially become the director of special education for the Wright City R-II School District effective July 1. Herod will replace Vicki Zuhone who is retiring from the district after 27 years.Herod graduated from Missouri Baptist University with a degree in business administration and education. He went on to Lindenwood for his Master’s in Education Administration and is currently working on his education specialist degree from the University of Arkansas.Herod has worked in Fort Zumwalt and Wentzville in the field of special education from teacher to behavioral specialist and process coordinator. He is currently employed in the Orchard Farm School District as the assistant director of student services.When asked about his qualifications, Herod stated, “My experience in school leadership has afforded me the opportunity to develop and train special education staff to become stronger instructional leaders while meeting and exceeding state and federal compliance standards. I have a unique background in being in special education at all levels — from early childhood to elementary, middle and high school. This experience has proven invaluable as I have seen a tremendous array of instructional strategies geared at student success. I am really looking forward to coming onboard and working with the Wright City team.”Herod lives in Moscow Mills with his family.David Herod
