Record Staff WriterDurham School Services will continue as the bus provider for the Wright City R-II School District. The school board approved a new three-year contract with the company during its April 21 meeting. The district received three bids, with Durham being the lowest. Durham quoted a bid of $96,287.16.First Student bid a rate of $99,043.84, and Illinois Central bid $106,528.65.“We went with the low bid in order to be efficient with funding,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Gaines, who noted the district was pleased with prior service provided by Durham. The rate is an increase over the $93,845.70 the district paid Durham for services during March of 2015.Under the new contract, Durham will provide 21 buses for the district to use for daily transportation of students, as well as for extracurricular activities. Currently, the district’s transportation budget for 2015-16 is $1,004,770 but that figure is still being developed and has not yet been approved by the board.Since Durham is the current contractor, there will be no disruption in existing services with employees and facilities.Durham School Services
