Q&A with Vickie Albritton, Teacher of the Month

Posted
Vicki Albritton was selected Warrenton High School’s Teacher of the Month.Albritton is in her 16th year teaching. She has worked in inner-city, rural, public and private schools teaching science classes with students in grades five-12.Her two children are students in the Wentzville School District. When she’s not teaching, she spends time with her family. They play tennis and taking walks with their dog.Q. What fuels your passion?A. I feel passionate about creating an inviting classroom where students want to learn. I want to expose students to the many careers that are possible by applying their knowledge of science and their own hard work.Q. What do you like to do away from school/work?A. Since our extended family is out of state, my family and I travel for holidays. We are usually in the south as much as possible throughout the year. On weekends, we attend church together in St. Charles County. Over the summer, we “binge watched” a couple of TV series on Netflix together!Q. Do you have an interesting story about you and WHS?A. One of my favorite memories here at WHS was a basketball game during a pep rally. I was passed the ball and could hear the crowd behind me yell “shoot!” I was too far from the goal to really make a shot, but I threw up a “granny shot” from between my knees. I scored! It was the first points of the game and I was shocked. The gym roared! It still makes me smile to think about that day.
