Marthasville Chamber of Commerce presents the first chili cook-off and pumpkin hunt from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Marthasville Community Club, 601 S. One St.Events include pumpkin decorating and games, live music, scarecrows on Main Street and drinks and snacks to purchase. A “biergarten” will be set up as well.The pumpkin hunt is open to kids up to 14 years old and runs from 11:30 a.m. to noon.The chili tasting event is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. under the pavilion at the Marthasville Community Club. The cost is $5 to taste.Chili cook-off contestants pay $30 per team. Set-up starts at 11 a.m. Awards will be given at 3:45 p.m. for Best Chili and People’s Choice.Contestants need to cook the chili prior to the event. Three gallons is the recommendation, along with any garnishes such as chips, sour cream or cheese. Teams will have electric outlet for their Crock-Pots and roasters for warming. Contestants should bring a table, extension cords and power strips.The Chamber will supply bowls, spoons, napkins and oyster crackers.Contestants may decorate their tables.To be a contestant, mail in your team captain’s name, team’s name and special requests along with a phone and email address and mail checks payable to MACC to: MACC c/o Samantha Dobsch, 2471 Highway A, Washington, MO 63090.Hometown HalloweenMark Stahl
